Prayer Pt.5

Prayer is more than bringing our needs before God—it is an invitation to cooperate with God and His will.

In Part 5 of our Prayer series, Pastor Paul teaches us that effective prayer begins when we seek what God desires and bring our hearts, words, and actions into agreement with Him. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)

As we grow in prayer, we learn:

• To pray for God’s will to be accomplished

• To pray according to His will, trusting that He hears us

• To receive the help of the Holy Spirit when we don’t know how to pray

• To align our desires with God’s Word rather than asking God to simply fulfill our own plans

• To understand and obey God’s will, allowing prayer to change not only our circumstances, but also us

Romans 8:26 reminds us that “the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses,” and 1 John 5:14 gives us confidence that when we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

Prayer is cooperation with heaven. When we surrender our desires, listen to the Holy Spirit, stand upon God’s Word, and walk in obedience, we position ourselves to participate in what God desires to accomplish.

Prayer doesn’t just invite God into our plans—it brings us into His.
